Hot Rod Magazine 69 Charger

Power for this amazing Pro-Tourer comes from a 2005 Generation III Viper V-10 mated to a Tremec T-56 six speed transmission and Viper rear end. The motor was built by Dick Vandezelden at Creative Arts. Engine details include Oliver rods and CP pistons, plus a custom hand fabricated oil pan, and air intake.  Stainless steel headers and Jet Hot coated exhaust provide the awesome sound. Every component, nut, and bolt of the motor was perfected to create this 605hp V-10 Beast.

To make the V/C Edition possible, customizations included:

  • Hand fabricated 2”x3” steel tube frame and frame rails
  • Hand fabricated floor pans and trunk pan
  • Hand fabricated stainless steel Jet-Hot coated exhaust and headers with Spin Tech mufflers
  • Custom fabricated driveshaft
  • Wheel base stretched 2” to improve handling and create a sleeker look
  • Hand fabricated aluminum fuel cell (re-located behind back seat) with aluminum hard fuel lines
  • Custom interior with push button keyless start and Vintage Air

The Sure Grip rear end in this Charger is straight out of a 2005 Viper with stock 3.06 gears.  For the front suspension Xtreme Innovations and Fabrications started with a custom K-member they fabricated, then added Viper control arms and rack-and-pinion steering.  Afco coilovers, and a hand modified Viper front sway bar top off the front end. Xtreme Innovations and Fabrications built a custom Independent Rear Suspension also featuring Afco coilovers.  The big disc ABS brakes with 6 piston calipers in front and 4 piston calipers in back again come from a 2005 Viper.

This ride features an original 69 Charger unibody extensively modified by Xtreme Innovations and Fabrications including hand-fabricated floors, trunk pan, and fuel cell. Other modifications include a 2×3-inch steel tube frame underneath and a two-inch-longer wheelbase.  The bumpers were shaved and fitted to the body before they applied the PPG black base/clearcoat paint.

The full custom interior by Ricky Rods features modified Dodge tweed and leather front buckets and hand made split rear seats. Other handmade interior appointments include door, side, and kick panels along with custom floor carpeting and headliner. Vintage Air provides the heating and cooling. AutoMeter gauges, a Billet Specialties steering wheel, Panasonic/MTX-based sound system and navigation top of the unique interior.
